About the Artist

Natalia Mirabito Hoar (b. 1996) is a classically trained oil painter capturing the raw pastoral beauty of New England land and sea. Her work is focused on sweeping coastlines, moody light phenomena, and recurring vistas across New England and Cape Cod shorelines, marshes, mountains and abroad.

Originally from Moldova, Natalia has been painting for over a decade, while toned tan paper sketches and watercolor pen and ink defined her early years. Her painting process begins en plein air along waterways and mountains, lost in thought out of doors, seeking to capture the feeling of a place or the mood of the day. She reminisces about what once existed before her, before her viewpoint's splendor was altered by human touch or development. She studies repeat locations in all four seasons and times of day, observing changing lighting affects and composing thoughtful compositions. Her goal is to create striking color relationships that create immersion, nostalgia, and subtle drama. She is incessantly drawn to mark-making with found objects and atmospheric effects that capture the fleeting light that nature bestows all four seasons, traditional to the region. These studies then serve as reference points for larger works.

Natalia holds a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts and has studied under the Museum of Fine Arts, Joseph McGurl, Lloyd Lillie, Hillary Scott and Judy Rossman. She is a member of the Oil Painters of America, American Society of Marine Artists, and the Scituate Arts Association.

Her award-winning work is collected and commissioned worldwide including the Boston Fire Department, the Trust for Public Land, and private collections across North America, Italy and Ireland. Areas of continuing influence and study include the Old Masters, Hudson Valley painters, and the schools of luminism, Italian naturalism, and impressionism. Creative pursuits have taken her to Italy, Ireland, Hawaii, Abu Dhabi, the American Southwest, New England coastlines and beyond. Her work is on view at the Ross Gallery in Norwell, Massachusetts, as well as her Satuit Studio in Scituate, MA. Outside of the studio, Natalia enjoys making homemade bruschetta from the garden, live painting to support charity and non-profit events, playing Irish fiddle and Bach, and spending time in the White Mountains and Cape Cod with her family.

”Natalia’s use of color and texture capture serenity of light and transport you to the scarcity of the moment…

Her sensitivity is extraordinary and adds both realism and emotion.”

 What collectors are saying

“Natalia is not only an extremely talented artist, but a great supporter of the community. As part of her Seen/Unseen Exhibition, she donated a portion of sales proceeds to Triangle, Inc. Her support of our organization will support services for people with variety of disabilities that develop employment and independent living skills while empowering them to live fully engaged lives in their local communities. We are so lucky to have a talented, engaged, and compassionate friend in Natalia!” John K.

“Natalia’s work captures both the strength of the natural world, and the loving touch of mother nature. Her use of color and media capture serenity of light and transport you to the scarcity of the moment.” Virginia H.

“I participated in a virtual event whereby Natalia collaborated with a local non-profit to give back part of her proceeds from the evening’s purchases. I fell in love with her work and style. Delighted to say that due to that event, I purchased two gorgeous pieces that remind me of the happiness and joy that not only the Cape brings me, but also the way Natalia captured it for me. Now in my new work from home office, I can just glance over and up and “be there”...thank you for this daily joy!” Patty B.

‘Art with heart’ ” is what I cherish in Natalia’s recreations of natural wonders, many of which I’ve visited. As I picture the so familiar cliffs at Aquinnah, Natalia’s sensitivity to color and light is extraordinary and adds both realism and emotion. Wonderfully responsive service and support! John T.
